A DAY TO CELEBRATE!
Greetings. Praise the Lord for another week of life and His protection given to us!
In my devotional this morning I read the following quotation: “Great blessings are enfolded in the observance of the Sabbath, and God desires that the Sabbath day shall be to us a day of joy. There was joy at the institution of the Sabbath. God looked with satisfaction upon the work of His hands. All things that He had made He pronounced ‘very good.’ Genesis 1:31. Heaven and earth were filled with rejoicing. ‘The morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy.’ Job 38:7. Though sin has entered the world to mar His perfect work, God still gives to us the Sabbath as a witness that One omnipotent, infinite in goodness and mercy, created all things. Our heavenly Father desires through the observance of the Sabbath to preserve among men a knowledge of Himself. He desires that the Sabbath shall direct our minds to Him as the true and living God, and that through knowing Him we may have life and peace.” (EGW, 6T, 349)
As we are facing this challenging time, it is wonderful to remember that God has set aside from creation a day for us to celebrate His presence in our lives and to renew our confidence in Him. Yes, we are in His loving hands. The Sabbath was also created to remind us of our origin — we are sons and daughters of the living and powerful God, the Creator and King of the whole universe. So, we are princes and princesses!
I pray that we all rejoice in the Lord and give Him thanks for His yearning to enjoy this day in a special way with His children. Yes, Sabbath is a day of celebration and gratitude!
NB: I want to congratulate and wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all our BC Conference mothers. May God bless each of you abundantly. Thank you for your amazing and sacrificial love!
Let’s continue to pray for the virtual IIW’s campaign, its impact in our communities, and for Pastor John Bradshaw.
Happy Sabbath!
