Some think of health outreach as a side program that complements ‘real’ evangelism, but God views it differently.   

Health evangelism is not about convincing people to give up meat or exercise more or compete with alternative health gurus. It is a comprehensive plan to restore souls to a relationship with their Savior by offering hope and healing.  “It is of little use to try to reform others by attacking what we may regard as wrong habits. Such effort often results in more harm than good. In His (Jesus) talk with the Samaritan woman, instead of disparaging Jacob’s well, Christ presented something better. ‘If thou knewest the gift of God,’ He said, ‘and who it is that saith to thee, Give Me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water.’ John 4:10…This is an illustration of the way in which we are to work. We must offer men something better than that which they possess, even the peace of Christ, which passeth all understanding.”  {MH 156, 157}
