President's Message

What Day That Will be!

Greetings from Abbotsford – home, sweet home! Today I will be of service to the Oakridge Church family as they are having a multi cultural service this morning. It is wonderful to celebrate the diversity that we have among us as God’s family!

The 36th Annual BC Conference Filipino Camp Meeting began at Camp Hope last evening. The main speaker for this spiritual gathering is Pastor Gerry Pasikatan, ON Conference Stewardship and Worship Director. In his opening message he presented a beautiful message – Does it Matter Whether Jesus is Coming Again? He mentioned the effects of the sin in the world – nature, society, and spirituality of the people as well as the challenges that all of these cause in our lives… Then, he concluded with the comforting promises of restoration – the greatest event in history, the second coming of Jesus. Besides being the core of our hope in Christ, His return to fix all misery that sin has created, this message also requires a personal decision in our walk with the Lord – Are we placing ourselves in His hands daily and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform, mold, and prepare us for that day?

This morning, inspired by last evening’s message, the first Bible passage that came to my mind, was Rev. 21:1-5: “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And He who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also He said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (ESV) What a day that will be. I can hardly wait for it. Oh, Lord Jesus, come sooner!

Happy Sabbath!

In His Service,

Wesley Torres, D.Min.

President
