President's Message

The Most Powerful Will!

Greetings from Burman University (BU)! I have been here since this past Tuesday. During this time, I had the privilege to interview some Theology students graduates (together with Pastors Ern Brake and Tom Glatts), to attend the SDACC Youth Advisory (together with Pastor Brain Wahl), and the SDACC President’s Council, which was followed by BU Board of Trustees. It was a busy but a blessed week. There is so much energy, creativity, and a wonderful Christian spirit in this campus. We ought to be proud of BU, our Canadian Adventist University! Please keep BU in your prayers.

This morning, I was impressed to share with you a beautiful quotation from the SOP. It simply inspired and encouraged me this week: “As the will of man co-operates with the will of God, it becomes omnipotent. Whatever is to be done at His command, may be accomplished in His strength. All His biddings are enablings.” (EGW, COL, 333)

I thank God every day because He keeps reminding me that when He calls, He enables, equips, and empowers me (us) to fulfill His Great Commission, in His Name and for His glory. (Deut. 31:6; II Cor. 12:9; Phil. 4:13; II Peter 1:3-4, etc) We become invincible by surrendering our will to Him and completely trusting in His leadership in our lives. Then, He continually shapes us with His loving hands of grace, forgiveness, and compassion to be His representatives.

Happy Sabbath!

In His Service,

Wesley Torres, D.Min.
President
