President's Message

The Reason for Jesus’ Birth

Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Today, I will participate in the Yearend Spiritual Celebrations of our Filipino Churches at DLS. Pastor Jose Cortes Jr., NAD Ministerial Association, Associate Director for Evangelism, will be the main speaker. The expectation is that about 700 dedicated members will gather together to worship the Lord and make plans for next year! Please keep this committed, loving, and growing group of believers in our Conference in your prayers.

As most Christians celebrate the birth of Christ on Dec 25 – very unlikely that He was born on that day – we should not miss the opportunity to reflect about the purpose of our Saviour’s birth and mission in this world. We have eternal life in Jesus because one day He came as an innocent baby, lived a perfect life, and died for us!

This morning, I would simply invite each of us to ponder over a beautiful quotation by Ellen While: “The story of Bethlehem is an exhaustless theme. In it is hidden “the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God.” Rom. 11:33. We marvel at the Saviour’s sacrifice in exchanging the throne of heaven for the manger, and the companionship of adoring angels for the beasts of the stall. Human pride and self-sufficiency stand rebuked in His presence. … To meet a bitterer conflict and a more fearful risk, God gave His only-begotten Son, that the path of life might be made sure for our little ones. “Herein is Love.” Wonder, O heavens! and be astonished, O earth!” (DA, 48,49)

My prayer today for all of us to consider Jesus’ amazing love for humanity and His humility as He “came to seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10 NIV). And… that includes you and me – how fortunate we are!

May God bless us all as we worship Him today and celebrate our free salvation in Christ!

Happy Sabbath!

In His Service,
Wesley Torres, D.Min.
President
