Revival in the Church!
Greetings from Lacombe, Burman University (BU)! I have been here since Thursday for a series of meetings, including BU Board of Trustees. This has provided me with the opportunity to meet with many of our BC students on campus. It is always a pleasure to visit our fine Canadian Adventist University!
I enjoy being of service to our churches, schools, and “rubbing shoulders” with God’s people. During those occasions, as I interact with the saints, many times I am asked the question about the “condition” of our church. I recognize that the church faces challenges and it is not immune to difficult situations. However, as imperfect as the church might be (on the human level – you and I), it is still the apple of God’s eye – we are!(Zech. 2:8) Sometimes, we forget that Christ has called us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world –Matt. 5:13-16. Whenever this happens, it is because we “allow” our carnal nature to overcome the spiritual one. Then, it becomes easier to criticize, point fingers, blame others and even the church for problems in our congregations/organization. Yes, we need a spiritual revival in the church. But you and I need to remember that such revival needs to start witheach of us (me), individually. Christ wants to revive His church, starting in our hearts!
EGW’s inspired thoughts corroborate with this: “The same power that raised Christ from the dead will raise His church, and glorify it with Him, above all principalities, above all powers, above every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in the world to come.”(EGW, DA, 787) We need that power from above, every moment!
