Presidential Blessing: December 2, 2017

Greetings! Today, my family and I will attend the Abbotsford Church in the morning. Then, I will support a baptismal ceremony at the Vancouver Filipino Church this afternoon at the conclusion of an evangelistic campaign led by Pastor Justis St.Hilaire. It is a good feeling to be home after many trips in the last few weeks. Please pray for those who will give their hearts to the Lord!

This morning, I would like to share about the gift of love, the key for the kingdom. God is the source of this beautiful attribute which is faithful, responsible, and connected with His justice. He reveals Himself to us through nature, His Scriptures, but above all in His personal revelation in Christ. It is God’s desire that His followers will live in harmony with this principle, by His power and grace. As important as the Bible doctrines are, they are not the key for the kingdom. Why? Because even if we “obey” or “serve” God by keeping them, which is good, but not having a spirit of love, they would have no value. The key for the Kingdom is found in Jesus’ words to His disciples “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another… By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35 (NKJV

There is a myth about John, the disciple. This myth cannot be verified but it brings the point home. It says that John lived his last days in Ephesus after having survived the enemy’s cruel attempts of killing him. John would speak to different people who gathered around his house. Usually, he was asked to present a message to the believers. John always consented and shared with the people: “You must love one another.” In one occasion, one of the leaders whispered to him saying: please share something different because you talked about it yesterday. John replied: “This message will age without ever getting old. So, love one another.”

As we enter the most exciting and beautiful time of the year -- festivities, family time, visits of friends, good food, etc, -- let’s consider God’s amazing love for us in Christ. Once you receive it, you must share it!

I invite you to pray with me:

For the outpouring of God’s love on His children as we worship Him today, and always.

For our faithfulness in returning to Him and His Cause - His tithe and offerings with gratitude.

For our Board of Directors meeting tomorrow.

Happy Sabbath!

In His Service,

Wesley Torres
