Presidential Blessing: November 4, 2017
.

Greetings from Abbotsford – home, sweet home! Today, I will share God’s Word with the Burnaby Church family. Pastor Bob Babic was their pastor but he has moved to the West Kootenays Pastoral District – Grand Forks, Nelson, Nakusp, Trail Churches and Castlegar Church Plant. Pastor Tom Glatts is introducing him in his new Pastoral District this Sabbath. Please pray for Bob and Elena as they begin their ministry in that beautiful part of BC!

Last evening, the Torres had the privilege to host the youth of the Abbotsford Church (and their friends) in our home. We were amazed as they kept coming. At the end, there were 25+ of them. Linda Glatts led the program as she was helped by Anita Sabot and Ryan Mowat. The Torres felt honored to have them in our place. We could witness their excitement of being together to open the Sabbath, fellowship with one another, and study God’s Word.

As I thought and prayed about what happened here last evening, I came to some conclusions:

  1. – Our youth needs solid, caring, and Biblical Christian leadership
  2. – They are sociable, eager to come together, and to make new friends
  3. – They love the Lord and appreciate those who are genuinely interested in them
  4. – Our youth is ready to dedicate their lives to God when they are inspired by their trusting leaders
  5. –  One needs to come to their level, mix with them, speak their language, love & understand them, and point them to Jesus
  6. – A non-judgmental and loving attitude is the key to win their confidence – they smell honesty and sincerity from a distance
  7. – They love food!

This morning, I thank the Abbotsford Church youth leaders for their love, time, commitment, service, and vision for their youth. Also, thank God to have inspired them in this mission with the young people. I am sure there are others doing similar things for our youth in other churches. Now, I would like to invite you, leaders of God’s church in the BC Conference, to be more proactive with the young people. Maybe, open your homes to our youth, show an “extra mile of interest” in them, organize with your pastor and youth leaders something that will appeal to them as you love them with the love of Jesus. Above all, have an organized prayer plan for those valuable souls. However, remember – genuine prayer walks!

The apostle Paul reminded Timothy (youth): “Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in your speech, conduct, love, faithfulness, and purity.” (1 Tim. 4:12 NIV) Would we help our youth, by God’s grace, to achieve that Christian goal in their lives?

Please, continue to pray for the upcoming Retreats at Camp Hope (online registration available):
