Presidential Blessing: October 21, 2017
Greetings from Abbotsford! The SEDDS Conference continues at the Church in the Valley today. It started last evening with a powerful message from Dr. Ivan Williams, NAD Ministerial Association. The BC Conference is sponsoring SEEDS, together with the NAD Ministerial Association & Evangelism and Church in the Valley. Please pray for this training event throughout this Sabbath day – the Evangelism Directors and Church Plant Coordinators across the NAD are also here this weekend as well as the non-ordained pastors of our Conference.
I have been sharing some messages about the topic of stewardship during the last few weeks and will bring this series to a conclusion today. When we discover the stewardship gifts given to us by God – Temple, Time, Talents, and Treasures and allow the Holy Spirit to impress upon our hearts the desire to use them appropriately, a miracle will take place in our lives. Because of sin, we are selfish by nature and live in a dimension of the kingdom of me, myself, and I. Everything else revolves around this domain. However, stewardship is a matter of the heart, the place where a spiritual battle takes place, daily… It is about defining the ownership of our lives!
It all starts with an attitude of surrender of self to gain a victory over the predicament of sin and its consequences, as mentioned in the previous messages. When we place ourselves completely in God’s hands and invite Him to take possession and dwell in His devised Temple by creation (ourselves), things will come in place. Consequently, the reality of “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” (Gal. 2:20 NIV) and “… if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (II Cor. 5:17 NIV) will set the pace for the other stewardship gifts to be manifested in our lives. “Our” Time will be naturally dedicated for a daily, personal, and intimate relationship with God. It will not be a sacrifice but a pleasure to walk with God. “Our” Talents will be used for His honor and glory and to share the good news about what happened in our own lives. We will not be able to keep our mouths shut and our lives as an open living testimony for Him, by His grace. “Our” Treasures will be naturally made available to enhance His Cause and serve others. Then, the kingdom of me, myself, and I is transformed to be one of God, His Cause, and those around us! The miracle is complete as “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” (Matt. 6:21 NLT) – This will become a loving response of gratitude to God, as we finally recognize that everything belongs to Him, include ourselves!
The Lord invites: “My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.” (Prov. 23:26 ESV) What is our answer to Him, today?
