Presidential Blessing: September 9, 2017
Greetings from Oshawa, SDACC Meetings! I hope and pray that you had a good summer and are enjoying a good health. I was missing this channel of communication during the last couple of weeks… It is good to reconnect with you after my vacation.
The 2017-2018 school year has started and over 1,100 students are in our BC Conference schools – the largest evangelistic effort in this Conference! This is really a blessing to have Adventist Education available to our children in BC. Please let us pray for a safe, productive & blessed year for our students, principals, teachers, school staff, and parents. I am reminded of the African saying that “it takes a village to raise [educate] a child.”
Like it happened before with the words Word and Witness, this week again, two words touched my heart during our meetings here in Oshawa - Ministry and Mission. Interesting is that these four words are intimately connected. In the Word we find God’s vision to equip His children through the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives by molding them to become His agents to Minister to the world (I Cor. 12:1-11). As we humbly submit ourselves to His plans, we are empowered to Witness for Him to fulfil His Mission (Acts 1:8). When we dedicate time ministering for the Lord and His children, we take the focus of ourselves and concentrate it on the Mission. The Word is the One, Jesus, (John 1:1-3) Who enables us to Witness for Him (Eph. 4:11-13). Again, all starts with the Word as He inspires us to become His Witnesses to do His Ministry to fulfill His Mission!
My prayer today is for all of us to be willing for the Lord to shape us, according to His Will, to be used by Him for His honor and glory!
Happy Sabbath!
In His Service,

Wesley Torres, D.Min.
