Presidential Blessing: July 8, 2017
Summer is here and with it comes the excitement of enjoying a good weather and the company of family and friends. Talking about friends, I visited Camp Hope yesterday and noticed all the preparations already in progress for our Camp Meeting, which will start in a few weeks. Camp Hope is our “Sanctuary” in the BC Conference but it is also the place where many friendships are made and good memories are registered in our hearts. Thank you, Bill Gerber and team, for preparing our camp grounds for this spiritual feast.

Camp Hope also hosts our Conference’s Summer Camps (different ages). Every year, hundreds of children and young people go there to be spiritually refreshed. Yesterday, I stopped by, registered myself in the office, and then talked for a few minutes with some of the staff members and children who are already attending one of those Summer Camps. I could see with my own eyes and feel with my heart the happiness shinning in the faces of those children and the commitment and dedication of the staff members who are making this service possible. Thank you, Brian Wahl and team, for providing a safe and spiritual environment for our children and young people. I am convinced that as you make this experience possible for them to enjoy and learn lessons from God’s magnificent nature, their young hearts are certainly brought closer to Jesus through the spiritual activities that take place during the Summer Camps. Also, a special note of “Thank You” to our parents, pastors, teachers, churches, members, and sponsors who promote and support our Summer Camps.

Inspired by God, the beloved disciple wrote: “I write to you, dear children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men [and ladies], because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.” (I John 2:14 NIV) Ellen White added: “With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Saviour might be carried to the whole world!” (EGW, MYP, 7)

My prayer today is for our children and young people to be equipped for service and used by God in a mighty way to share His love with others after experiencing it in their own hearts.

Please pray for our Camp Hope, Summer Camps, and upcoming Camp Meeting.

In His Service,

Wesley Torres, D.Min.
