Presidential Blessing: May 13, 2017
Greetings from Kelowna! Ern, Jeff, Joey, and I will be attending and doing some presentations at the Okanagan Mini Camp Meeting at OKAA today. The speaker for this weekend is Steve Wohlberg. This is the second regional camp meeting in our Conference this year – the Northern region was the first one. Soon, the Vancouver Island and Kootenay regions will be taking place. Of course, our general Camp Meeting will be in Camp Hope from July 28 to August 5. David Asscherick (first weekend), Jonathan Duffy, Kevin Wilfley, David Jamieson (week), and Dwight Nelson (second weekend) will be the speakers. Please pray for these spiritual gatherings of the saints.
I returned from my short vacation in Brazil on Tuesday. Something curious happened on this trip. After flying for several hours over the Atlantic, I landed in Miami and re-checked my suitcases home. That was the last time I saw them… There were several connecting flights delays and finally a flight cancellation. Thank God, I arrived safely, but to this day I have not received my luggage, yet. This is frustrating. The feeling of losing something is not a pleasant one. There were some gifts from the grand parents to my children and personal stuff involved. However, those are only material things.
This morning a strong thought came to my mind. Feeling bad about losing something personal is understandable but could not be compared to missing the chance to be with Jesus forever. The Bible mentions that: “I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, so that no one will take your crown.” Rev. 3:11 (NASB) First, this is a reminder and second it serves as a warning. Sometimes we surrender to the enemy’s temptation to get so attached to temporal material things and forgetting or placing the eternal ones to come in a second plan…  God’s Word appeals to us “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Prov. 4:23 (NIV). Jesus wants us to reach our final destination, with Him, forever! He has a plan for us -- John 14:1-3.
I pray that we have our hearts in the right place and that we come with a humble and happy spirit as we gather in our congregations to worship our Heavenly Father today. Let our singing, praying, the preaching of His Word, our fellowship with one another, and our faithfulness in bringing to Him and His Cause His tithes and offerings be an act of praise and adoration… May this experience be a joyful occasion with our God and our church family.
Please pray for the Chilliwack Church evangelistic campaign starting this weekend, Let’s Move KelownaCampaign preparations and activities, and our regional camp meetings across the conference.
Happy Sabbath!
In His Service,
