Presidential Blessing: April 22, 2017
Greetings from Camp Hope, BC Conference Sanctuary! I am here with a representative group of BC church elders & leaders for the Local Church Elders’ Training during this weekend. The main speaker/presenter is Dr. Jonas Arrais, GC Ministerial Association Associate Secretary and the Editor of the Elders’ Digest. We started the meetings last evening. The message was powerful and encouraging! Please pray for the spiritual success of this event. We value the equipping of our leaders for greater service for God’s Cause!

The Spirit of Prophecy emphasizes the theme of training/equipping for service. Inspired by God, EGW wrote that “training is essential to prepare us for a higher work.” (MH, 473). She adds that “God has appointed to every man (and woman) his work according to his ability. It is by education and practice that persons are to be qualified… .” (5T, 724). God wants to use all of us for His honor and glory. However, one needs to be willing to submit himself/herself to Him, listen to His voice, and respond to His calling by faith.

I am convinced that every one of us must humble ourselves as we accept the call of the Lord, equip ourselves through His promises and example set by Christ, and serve Him and His children to the best of our abilities. I firmly believe that when God calls, He equips, enables, and empowers. EGW puts this very simply and beautifully: “You need not go to the ends of the earth for wisdom, for God is near. It is not the capacities you now possess or ever will have that will give you success. It is that which the Lord can do for you. We need to have far less confidence in what man can do and far more confidence in what God can do for every believing soul. He longs to have you reach after Him by faith. He longs to have you expect great things from Him… Put your talents into work, ask God for wisdom, and it will be given to you. Take the word of Christ as your assurance. Has He not invited you to come unto Him? Never allow yourself to talk in a hopeless, discouraging way… Talk and act as if your faith was invisible. The Lord is rich in resources; He owns the world. Look heavenward in faith. Look to Him who has light and power and efficiency.” (COL 146-147). Also, consider Psalm 27:1-5.

My prayer today is for all of us to accept God’s calling to do His work every day by allowing His Spirit to lead and teach us what we need to learn and equip ourselves in/through Him.

Please continue to pray for the evangelistic meetings in the following churches: Hope, Richlands (Cherryville), White Rock, the follow up in Cornerstone, Duncan, and the preparations for Let’s Move Kelowna.

In His Service,

Wesley Torres, D.Min.
