Presidential Blessing: April 1, 2017
Greetings from Abbotsford - home, sweet home! Today, I will have the privilege to be of service to the Vancouver Spanish Church and officiate the ordination of an elder to minister for their congregation. Please pray for God’s people as His children come together to worship Him on His holy day.

April 1 is usually known as April Fool’s Day… In Brazil, it is called the “Day of Lies.” During this day, people make jokes, spread hoaxes, and play harmless pranks. This is commonly “acceptable” to have fun with similar situations on this day… Of course, we do not promote any of this. In contrast with this “human tradition,” I would like to share a “Big Truth” with you this morning. This week was an extremely busy one for us in the office… Several committee meetings, teleconferences, video conferences, preparations for Camp Meeting, Constituency Meeting, and the Board of Directors’ Teleconference next week, besides the normal work daily activities. I felt the pressure together with our office staff. I am very proud of our folks in the office. They work so tirelessly to serve our members in the BC Conference. Many times, they stay after hours serving with a smile in their faces and a desire in their hearts to make a positive difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in our territory. Also, we worship together in the mornings before we start our daily activities. We randomly pray for our churches, schools, pastors, teachers, students, and families. Thank you, Office Staff! This is a “Big Truth recognition!”

On Wednesday evening, I had the honor to participate in a well attended Visioning Meeting with one of Church families. I witnessed the happiness of our members there as we all sought God’s presence and vision regarding how to best connect with their community and be of service to them. I was touched when the results of their democratic approach and vote showed a 93% of support for their plans through much prayer and unity. Even those who did not vote in favor indicated their respect and voted that way mainly because they still want to consider those plans more in depth, but without any contention. This revealed the virtues of a Christian character. I praise God for the work of all members as they want to be more effective in their community. “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” Psalm 133:1 (ESV)

The verse that I would suggest for our meditation today is taken from I John 3:18 (NIV): “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” When we reach that level, we will also be “speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” Ephesians 4:15 (NIV).

Today, I invite us to pray for our Office Staff, the Board of Directors’ Teleconference on Thursday, April 6, the evangelistic campaigns in our Conference, this year’s Camp Meeting and Constituency Meeting, and the Local Church Elders’ Training at Camp Hope, April 21-23

Happy Sabbath!

In His Service,
Wesley Torres, D.Min.
