Greetings from Guarapari, ES, Brazil! During the next couple of weeks, my family and I will be reunited with our beloved ones who came from far and near in Brazil to spend some time in this beautiful place by the sea. We are so thrilled to be back in this place that brings us many good memories and to enjoy this stunning nature!

Last evening a big portion of our family gathered together to receive the Sabbath during our Family Worship. What a precious moment! This morning, I felt impressed to write, remind, and motivate you regarding this important aspect of our Christian journey – Family Worship. Sometimes, life’s pressure and human commitments try to dissuade us to neglect this practice that is so vital for our spiritual growth. The enemy knows that when this happens, our minds, even for a few moments, is deviated from what should be the ultimate goal of every Christian – to live a life of praise, worship, and of an intimate relationship with our Creator God. It is exciting, when I gather together with my wife and children in our Family Altar at home in Canada. However, the experience that we had last evening was something special. Having our parents, in laws, siblings, cousins, nephews and nices together with us only gave us a foretaste of heaven! I am certain that the greatest reward in this side of God’s universe is to be blessed with a happy family. I am not suggesting that we ought to have a perfect family – perfection only in heaven. But, it is a privilege when we assemble together to worship God with those we grew up with, those whom we “watched” to be born in the family, as well as those who joined the family.

This should not be different in our Church family. It is an honour to belong to God’s family. Are we perfect as a Church family? No, we are not. Nonetheless, family is a place where one comforts and supports the other, cheer for one’s success, pray and assist the one who is struggling (spiritually, emotionally, financially, etc), and encourage each other to never give up! No wonder, Jesus came to this world and He had a human family. He chose to clothe himself with flesh and bones to go through the experience of having a human family and being the perfect example for us.

My prayer for each and all of us during this festive season, which people call Christmas, is to never forget that Jesus came to this world to make us one family for Him. We do not celebrate “the date of His birth” as the world does, however, we do praise God for sending His Son to rescue and give us eternal life through His sacrificial death. We are blessed by His humble adopted humanity, inspired by the way He lived His human life, and redeemed because of His atoning death for us! He is our brother, besides being our Saviour. He understands all our weaknesses and is the One who sustains us during our temptations (Heb. 4:15-16). His name is precious and brings hope (Matt. 1:21), His life is the best example of self sacrifice (Isa. 53: 4-5), and His death gives us life (John 3:16-17, Rom 3:23-25, Heb. 2:17-18). Yes, my dear brother and sister, during this “Christmas” I would like to encourage you to love and serve Jesus, our Redeemer. Serving Jesus means surrendering everything to Him, by love.

As we gather together with our biological families and friends during this occasion, let us remind each other that we are part of God’s spiritual family, through Jesus Christ – our Saviour!

Notes:

  1. We are entering the final week of our 120 Days of Prayer and Working Together to Reach 150 Souls for Christ in the BC Conference – Sept 3 - Dec 31. Has your congregation joined in this spiritual endeavour?
  2. The BC Conference Administration is still working hard to conclude the 2017 calendar of events, training, and equipping of the laity. It will be ready & presented during our Camp Hope Workers’ Meeting in mid January. Our goal is to involve all local church leaders & train them to train others for soul winning. We ask you to dedicate a special moment in prayer during the worship services on January 7 & 14, 2017 – forREACH OUT!
  3. Today is the second last Sabbath of 2016. We kindly request & pray for the faithfulness of God’s people in returning His tithes and offerings to His storehouse – more than 20% of our Conference’s budget depends on what is received during this month. God is good, “His compassions never fail… great is His faithfulness.” Lam. 3:22-23.

Happy Sabbath!

In His Service,
