Presidential Blessing: September 3

Greetings! I know that some of you are still enjoying your last days of vacation and getting ready to re-start your activities soon. I hope and pray that you had a good rest together with your family.

On Thursday I visited FVAA and noticed that the school is beautifully adorned and ready to start another school year next week. I met with some of the teachers and observed their excitement for the opportunity to minister to our children, again. I am sure that applies to all of our schools in the Conference. Last Sabbath, I witnessed first hand in Salmon Arm the way God opened the doors for a new teacher to join this Ministry. Yes, many folks will also return from their vacation in the Conference office and another year will start with opportunities to share the message of Jesus!
Something came to my mind during my personal devotion yesterday. I shared that with Ern Brake and Jeff Klam. There are exactly 120 days left in 2016, including today.

Then, the importance and symbolism of 120 days in the Bible popped in my mind. God gave Noah a message of repentance for 120 years (Gen 6:3); Moses was 120 years old when he died after leading God’s people from Egypt (Deut. 34:7); 120 people were gathered in the upper room when the Holy Spirit came upon them to select Matthias to take Judas Iscariot’s place (Acts 1: 12-26); the 144,000 as described in Revelation 7: (120 x 1,200), etc. Numbers are important to God and for this reason there is an entire book in the Bible that deals with that subject.
We received many blessings during our 2016 Camp Meeting!

Also, our Workers’ Meetings (Camp Pitch and Camp Meeting) were very spiritual and inspiring. However, we shared with you that the numbers that reflect church addition (Baptism and Profession of Faith) have been declining in our Conference for the last years. I am convinced that you would agree that the REACH Initiative and Vision have contributed to raise the awareness among ourselves (workers), our churches, schools, ABC, and Camp Hope that much can be accomplished when we train and utilize our available human resources and align ourselves to work together, inspired by the Holy Spirit – Revival and Transformation!
My point this morning is simple and challenging: After being blessed so much with the messages and training received during this year already (especially during Camp Meeting), I invite you to pray and work with me with a special dedication to reach 150 souls for Christ in our Conference during these last 120 days of 2016. We still have 18 Sabbaths (17 weeks) until December 31 – just over 8 people for each Sabbath. Many special moments will be happening until the end of this year – the follow up with nearly 200 baptism requests from our Summer Camps, the reaping events of the Let’s Move Vancouver Campaign, the HopeTrending Campaign with Dwight Nelson (information to follow), weeks of prayers in our schools, Bible studies by our pastors, teachers, lay members in our churches and schools… In the last quarter of 2010 alone we reached 170 souls. So, it is possible to reach 150 people for Jesus during these last 120 days of 2016, by God’s grace.

This is a motivational goal for us to pray and work together towards it. We all want to see people giving their lives to the Lord. I am convinced that God will bless our efforts for reaching souls for His Kingdom having in mind that it is “’Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.” Zac 4:6 (NIV).
Happy Sabbath!
In His Service,
Wesley Torres, D.Min.
