Northern BC Flooding Update

Greetings! I have some good news to share with you in connection with the Northern BC flooding.
1 - I had a teleconference with ADRA Canada last Friday evening and they are willing to support & provide some disaster response help, according to the needs of the people of Northern BC. ADRA Canada requested an assessment of the situation. I made another contact with Pastor Errol Palipane and Darren Shankel, Pastor & Principal of our Church and School in Chetwynd, respectively as well as Br. Merlin Nichols (Mayor). They gave me a positive response stating that things are going back to normal and they appreciated tremendously our willingness to help (ADRA Canada & Conference), but do not see the immediate need of a coordinated effort & support right now. The main disruption and damages were to public places and infra-structure (parks, roads, bridges, etc), and once they have a clearer picture of the damage outside of town, homes, etc, they will inform us.
2 - I contacted Pastor Cavin Chwyl again, our Dawson Creek Church Pastor, and he said that the church families there were really appreciative of our quick response, willingness to help & sense of family showed to them. He also said that things were returning to normal and he will made an evaluation of the situation together with some members and also with the city and see how we can be of help. The major damages also relate with the public infra-structure, i.e. roads, bridges, parks, etc. However, Pastor Chwyl said he will be in touch with the local authorities and let us in a couple of days or so about if and how we can be of assistance.

3 - We had a special prayer for the Northern BC people during the Filipino Camp Meeting at Camp Hope on Saturday & now are just waiting to hear from our folks on the ground in those places affected. I will be making my way there early next week for the official opening of the extension & new gym of our Peace Christian School in Chetwynd but have extended my visit to meet with the folks there, including Br. Nichols (Mayor), to do an assessment of the situation together with them.
Please keep the Northern BC people in your prayers. Thank you to those who have already indicated that they are praying for the people affected by this disaster.
In His Service,
Wesley Torres
