Greetings from Merritt! Pastor Ern Brake and I will be serving this Pastoral District today. He will preach in Merritt and I in Ashcroft and then we will have a REACH District Planning Meeting. The members from those Churches and the Lillooet group will join us for that spiritual activity in Ashcroft in the afternoon.  Please pray for all of us today.

Unexpected things happen… but when they do, we need to be prepared to respond to them promptly, by God’s grace. That was the situation on late Thursday afternoon… I was getting ready to go home when something of an urgent matter came up and that would pose a big challenge for our upcoming Board of Directors and Financial Statistical Review on Sunday. What could we do? First of all – Pray! Sven and Mary were still in the office and Ern was reached by text, phone, and e-mail as he was travelling back to BC from some important NAD meetings. Now, after weeks of preparation and everything being ready, we faced a last minute situation that required an immediate action and decision. God gave us the right direction! A number of phone calls, e-mails, and text messages were sent through that evening and throughout Friday. Before sunset yesterday, a solution was found which took care of all details. How? First of all, praise God for His guidance and the promised serenity to deal with emergencies. Second, we have a committed Board of Directors, which is comprised of dedicated people who have God’s Cause at heart! Thirdtechnology is a great asset. In a matter of minutes, people were being reached in different parts of the Province… As an organized team, God inspired all of us who got involved in the case and a positive conclusion was reached.

The solution for that situation started with prayer! The Bible promises that God is ready to listen to our petitions. When Daniel felt overwhelmed a Heavenly Messenger was dispatched and even before he finished his prayer, the answer was delivered to him (Dan. 9:23). Also, the Lord invites us to call on Him and He promises to answer us (Jer. 33:3). He assures us that we will find Him when we seek Him wholeheartedly: Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jer. 29:12-13). Prayer connects us with God not by bringing Him down to us, but by elevating us before His presence… As we pray, we ought to believe that God will grant what is best for us! This is what is called faith – to accept His Will.

We have the best technology available to us – 24/7/365 – a direct and clear channel to God’s throne of grace, through Jesus Christ. (Heb. 4:14-16)

Today, my prayer and plead is for all of us to make a daily use of this channel, always!

Happy Sabbath!

In His Service,

Wesley Torres, D.Min. President
