Home > Departments > President > President's Messages >
Greetings in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior! It is hard to believe, but we are just at the end of the third month of 2016. Time is going very fast… Every day that passes, we are closer to see and be with our Lord Jesus, forever. Praise the Lord!
Please find below some highlights of the last BC Conference Board of Directors (BOD) held on Sunday, March 20, 2016:
1 - We were privileged to have Mark Johnson, SDACC President with us during this last BOD Meeting.
2 – The BOD voted to receive the consent agenda, comprising of the President’s, Secretary’s & Departmental Directors’ reports, which had been previously placed on the website for the Board members to view.
3 – The BOD unanimously voted to invite Dr. Ern Brake to serve as the new BC Conference VP for Administration/Executive Secretary, effective immediately. Ern has faithfully served our Conference for over 19 years and he is capable, committed, creative, and friendly. Ern has the work of the Lord at heart and is passionate about sharing Jesus and is much appreciated by our Constituency. Please pray for him and his family as he begins his ministry in this capacity. Ern will also continue to lead REACH BC & Yukon and assist our pastors and congregations with this positive vision for God’s work throughout the Conference.

4 – The BOD voted to receive the Treasurer’s January 2016 report, which shows a 2.83% decrease in tithe when compared to the same period of 2015. However, the initial numbers for February show a 4.20% increase when compared to February 2015, so far. We kindly ask our workers to make this a matter of prayer and thank God for the faithfulness of His people in BC!
5 – The BOD voted on a balanced budget for the ABC in 2016. We had two good years (2014 & 2015) with the ABC and we praise God for that as well as the dedication of the ABC in turning the page successfully. The BOD also voted a motion of appreciation to Dan Wells and the whole ABC team for their hard work and the two positive financial years. Please continue to pray and support our ABC.
6 – It was voted to invite Levi Estores to be a member of the Search Committee, replacing David Laughton who retired. Greg Wellman was invited to be a member of the Personnel Committee, replacing Bob Tetz who also retired. Please pray for these committed men as they serve in those important committees in the BC Conference.
7 – The renovation project of the Bella Coola Church and Gym and the continuation of the master plan of the Chilliwack Church as it relates to the acquisition of another property adjacent to their Church and School were voted, too.
8 - Together with the projects mentioned above, the BOD voted a Reporting and Oversight of All Approved Building Projects Policy in the BC Conference, effective immediately.
9 – The BOD was updated in connection with the signed sale contract for the 33689 King Road BC Conference property, adjacent to the property where the Conference Office is located. The buyers are on target with all their work and keeping us updated on their progress. Please continue to pray for this transaction until it is all completed.
This is my final BOD Update sent to you as the acting VP for Administration/Executive Secretary since Ern Brake was elected on Sunday, March 20, to serve in this capacity. Ern will be responsible from now on to send you the BOD Updates. It has been a pleasure to serve the BC Conference in such a role.

Please pray for both of us: Ern Brake as the new VP for Administration/Executive Secretary and myself, also starting to serve our Constituency in this new position. We are embarking together on these tasks counting on your prayers, as we all continue to work together for the expansion of God’s Kingdom in this beautiful territory.
Thank you for being a part of our united Team. We are privileged to serve the BC Conference Constituency and we wish God’s richest blessings to you, your families, and the people you serve at our Churches, Schools, Camp Hope, Conference Office, and ABC.
In His Service,
Wesley Torres
