Vernon Love Offering

The Christmas season begins with the Vernon church filling shoeboxes for Samaritans Purse.  We then fill bags with necessary items for the local street nurse to hand out to her clients.  The season culminates with a love offering for a local non-profit organization.

Several of our church members had surgery this past fall and many of them had to utilize the Red Cross Equipment loan cupboard (official name: Health Equipment Loan Program or HELP). It was an easy decision for the Vernon church board to designate the Red Cross as the recipient for our love offering.

We were able to give HELP $1,560.00.  Part of their thank-you letter stated, “by supporting the Vernon Health Equipment Loan Program, you are helping us ensure that every North Okanagan resident in need can securely and comfortably recover in their home and move about the community safely and with dignity.”

In the past we have helped the Women’s Transition House, the Upper Room Mission, Hospice House, and the free Dental Clinic.  The mission statement of the Vernon church is “to share the love of our Saviour with the people of our community” and this is just one way we can demonstrate that love.
