“Growing a Church with a Purpose”

Vancouver Seventh-day Adventist Church

Every church is driven by something: tradition, finances, programs, personalities, and even a building can be a driving force in a church. According to New Testament practices in order for a church to be healthy it must be driven by a purpose that is clear and well defined.

The issue we face as a church family and leaders is not numbers – but rather how healthy we are! If we are healthy we will grow. As a church we want to be healthy in terms of fellowship, worship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism. The Board of Elders, our Church Board, Pastor Jeff and I would like to move our church family towards a process that focuses not on building programs, but rather an emphasis on people-building.

Over the next several weeks our entire church through prayer, study, and discussion will be engaged in determining our overall future – as we do so, we are requesting each of you to commit to much prayer and be willing to attend as many of the scheduled meetings as you can.

Beginning this Wednesday (1.11.06) at 6:30 p.m., I will begin a three-part series on the “Church with a Purpose”. This presentation is for the entire church and will be held in the Fellowship Center. Also, on Sunday the 15th at 5:30 p.m. you are invited to meet with the Board of Elders and the Church Board to conduct a complete SWOT (strength, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis of our church. It will be at this meeting where we will focus on the direction the Holy Spirit is leading us as we serve our community and our church family. PLEASE PRAY EVERY DAY THAT GOD WILL MAKE OUR PATH CLEAR!
