CAMP HOPE UPDATE FOR PASTORS

Hello Pastors,

Greetings and Salutations my friends! I hope this finds you all well, very well even. We will be seeing you all in a few months. Can you believe how fast camp meeting is approaching? But till then, I have some exciting news that I would like to share with you.

You are all in hot water. Well I hope you will be. Today, I went and picked up a couple propane powered hot water tanks. They were donated to us by a UBC Research Camp near Maple Ridge. The saw our storm plight on Global TV and long story short, the plan is to put them into the pastor’s bathroom block and bump up the hot water capacity yet again. So I hope you are all okay with that.

I also wanted to give you a little update on the clean-up progress at Camp Hope. We are starting our fourth month of clean-up from the ice storm. Much has been done, but there is still more to do. I have been sending out bulletin announcements each week, I hope you have seen these. The announcements and work bees will continue until the clean-up is completed. When and if such a day arrives I will notify the bulletins.

There is still work to be done in about 5 of the sections. We have about 20% clean up remaining. Lots of raking still to do. The roofing repairs are 95% completed. The restoration company will be finished in another week or so. A few of the cabins got a little water damage and that is being repaired. The fences are being repaired as well.

Please let your congregations know that we are still seeking volunteers and every Sunday is a work bee until we are done. People can come mid-week as well.

Lastly, we have a group from Maranatha planning come up to the camp in June. The project plan that is being presented to the Conference Board is to do some work and upgrades in the following areas: sidewalks, outdoor bathrooms, auditorium roof, exterior painting of buildings, replace some lodge windows and a few other smaller tasks.

The Maranatha group work bee begins on June 10 and runs for 7-10 days. The finish date is not final yet. Hopefully all the proposed areas of work get approved. As part of their requirements for coming, Maranatha requests that we get local volunteers to help at the same time. This is where I need your help.

Can you announce this in your churches that Maranatha is coming, and the dates they are coming? We can used skilled trades people and also unskilled laborers. Perhaps some can come for just one day, two days or maybe more. More details to follow. We are anticipating this to be a grand time!!!!
