The BC Conference Board of Directors (BOD) had a teleconference on Thursday, December 4, 2014. We are happy to share with you some of the important decisions taken during that meeting:
1 – The BOD voted to receive the reports from the President, Executive Secretary & Departmental Directors as a consent agenda, which had been posted in the Conference’s website for the BOD members.
2 – The BOD voted to receive the Treasury report presented by Michael Wixwat, BC Conference Treasurer, showing a 2.74% tithe gain till October 2014, when compared to the same period last year. Praise God for the faithfulness of His children in our Conference!
3 – It was voted to receive the encouraging REACH BC & Yukon Report presented by Pastor Ern Brake. At this point in time more than one third of our BC Conference churches have embraced REACH and recently the Westminster and Chinese Spiritual Depot boards have voted to become REACH Pilot Churches.
4 – Pastor Grant Misseghers was voted to be the part-time pastor of the Open Door Church from January 2015. In his new role, Pastor Misseghers will dedicate his time and ministry as the Associate part-time pastor of the Abbotsford Church and part-time pastor of the Open Door Church. Please remember Grant, his family & his new ministry in your prayers.
Pastor Bill Holloway concluded a Master’s Degree in Counseling last year and will dedicate his newly acquired skills pursuing his career of service as a Christian Counselor. We sincerely thank Pastor Bill Holloway for his dedicated & committed service and positive contributions to the Open Door Church family and our Conference over the last 13 years. We wish & pray for many blessings from God upon him & his family, and as he serves in his new capacity. We will certainly miss Bill!
5 – The BOD voted for Pastor Cameron Johnston to become the part-time pastor of the Bella Coola Church, starting in the summer of 2015. Pastor Cameron’s experience and dedication to God’s Church is eagerly expected by the members of the Bella Coola Church as they will work together to grow God’s Kingdom in that area.
6 – The BOD placed a call to Pastor Joel Dundin, a Theology Masters’ graduate at Newbold College (June 2015) to serve as the pastor of the Cariboo Central and 100 Mile House Churches, starting in the summer of 2015. Joel is well known & appreciated by the churches which are very happy to receive him and Sallee as their new pastoral couple. We are confident that Joel & Sallee will be a blessing to that district.
7 – The BOD voted to invite Pastor Justis St.Hilaire to be the part-time pastor of the Richlands and Silver Hills Churches in the Okanagan, while he will also serve in a part-time evangelist position for the BC Conference. The plan is for Justis to continue to conduct Evangelistic Campaigns throughout the BC Conference in a reduced scale and at the same time provide pastoral coverage for those two churches. The churches are very happy to have Pastor St.Hilaire as their new pastor. Please keep Justis, his family, and the church families in your prayers!
8 – The BOD voted favorably of the request of the Aldergrove Church (lay members initiated) for Pastor Joshua Jamieson to serve as their locally funded Young Adults and Worship Pastor, starting January 1, 2015. The Aldergrove Church is also eagerly expecting Joshua to join the ministerial team of their church and envisioning to offer a greater service to their youth & enhance their church family worship experience with God. We thank God for the successful recent conclusion of Joshua’s studies at Walla Walla University and wish & pray for God’s richest blessings upon him as he starts his ministry in the BC Conference!
9 – A vote was taken to explore the possibility of a lay pastor initiative for some potential churches in our territory. This concept still needs further study for which we solicit your prayers.
Thank you for your faithful service to God’s Church and His people during 2014. Yes, we are also one more year closer to being with the Lord Jesus, forever!
***2014 Summer Camp Decision Cards***: More than two months ago I sent some of you by mail a package with “My Decision for Jesus” cards filled by a number of children & youth during this past 2014 Summer Camps. There were 141 potential candidates for baptisms among them. I have received some positive feedback from a number of pastors about their follow-up plan with those children & youth. This has resulted in some baptisms already. Praise God! I am sure you have realized that this has provided you with an opportunity to minister to those children, their families, and especially to those who are not members of our church, yet. Please, keep me informed about those names and the steps you are taking to minister to those children, youth, and their families. In the New Year I plan to send you a checklist with all those names with a request of a brief report on each of them. We are convinced that God can use you mightily to make a positive impact in those lives! We are praying for you in the frontline!
The BC Conference administration would like to express their appreciation for the opportunity and privilege to be of service to you & our constituency at large and for the support shown through the prayers and interactions during this year. We pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit as we continue to work together to achieve higher goals for the Lord and His Cause in 2015. Happy New Year and many blessings to each of you!
Yours in His Service,
