There are multiple benefits for the Christian Living in His Presence.
  • It is our prescription for victory over fear.
  • It will turn us into warriors.
  • It guarantees our peace.
  • It will take us through the fire
It guarantees our peace:

A favorite story of many from the Old Testament was when Elisha drove King Aram to distraction.  Elisha was able to tell the King of Israel everything his enemy planned to do. The King of Aram couldn’t defeat the Israelites because they already knew his plans. However King Aram was so mad that he sent an army to capture Elisha.  Elisha’s assistant in seeing the entire city surrounded with Aram’s army ran to Elisha and said, “We’re surrounded.  What shall we do?”  To this Elisha calmly replied, “Don’t be afraid . . . . those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed something like “God, open his eyes so he can see from your vantage point.”

And his servant’s eyes were opened. The point is: When God’s people are fulfilling God’s will they don’t need to be afraid. Living in His Presence gives us protection.  We all know that there are times when God has a higher purpose in mind. Many in the early church were martyred.  Numerous missionaries have lost their lives or suffered through various illnesses. Yet God’s presence was always with them, giving them a peace that surpasses all human understanding. (Philippians 3)

It will take us through the fire:

Isaiah, the gospel prophet of the OT, offers prophetic words of encouragement to the faithful followers of God.  “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God.” Isaiah 43:1-3

Three Hebrews faced the fire because of their faith. They were to be executed in a furnace of fire because they had refused to bow down to the image of King Nebuchadnezzar.  When the King looked into the furnace he was astounded to see them immune to the flames. In fact he was so outraged that he gave the order to make the furnace 7 times hotter. It was so hot that it killed the soldiers standing guard at the furnace.

When the King looked in again, he not only saw three Hebrew men unburned, but he saw a fourth person in the fire with them. He said, “The fourth looks like a son of the gods.”  And he was right in that it was the Son of God.  They were not alone!  The presence of God secured these men’s protection, enabled their promotion, and expanded God’s testimony throughout the land. We must never underestimate what can happen when we daily practice LIVING IN HIS PRESENCE.

Perhaps in your walk with God you are currently facing a fire and the heat seems unbearable. Have no fear. God is with you. When He allows His children to face the fire, He goes through it with them.
