There are multiple benefits for the Christian Living in His Presence.
  • It is our prescription for victory over fear.
  • It will turn us into warriors.
  • It guarantees our peace.
  • It will take us through the fire
It is the prescription for victory over fear:

In just a few sentences God told Joshua what he needed to hear.  His words addressed Joshua’s deepest fear. “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you.” Living in God’s Presence is the perfect prescription for overcoming panic.  These words were just what Joshua needed to hear.  You see it was the presence of God that had made Moses effective, and it was the presence of God that was going to see Joshua through his call to leadership.  The same is true for all God’s children; “As it was with Moses & Joshua, so God will be with us!”

It will turn us into warriors:

Years later Gideon was to learn how important it was to live in God’s presence. The children of Israel once again wandered away from God so He removed his hand of protection from them. As a result they were constantly being raided upon and would lose their valuables, livestock, and crops. Many of them lived in constant fear and fled to live in caves and dens.

So it was with Gideon, he was hiding away threshing grain in a winepress when a messenger from God appeared to him. When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior” Judges 6:12. The messenger called Gideon a mighty warrior. Pretty ironic! A grown man hiding in a wine press, yet he is called a mighty warrior.

Up to this point Gideon was full of fear. His eyes were on himself and he was insufficient.  But Gideon was soon to learn that he would rescue Israel because God was going to be with him – he was going to be Living in His Presence. God told Gideon, “. . . I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.” Judges 5:16

God’s message to Gideon was simple: If he would go into battle, God would go with him. The rest of the story is a wonderful example of God’s irrefutable power. Just as God’s presence transformed Gideon into a warrior He can do the same for us. He will change our cowardice into confidence and courage. He will be our enabling strength.

He is our provision to fulfill our mission to REACH BC & Yukon with a Christ-centered message of hope and wholeness.

My next blog on April 30 I will focus on how Living in His Presence will guarantee our peace and will take us through the fire.

Blessings, Wayne Culmore, President
