I have received several emails from pastors requesting that I simplify the request I presented to Pastors and their church leaders in a recent video where I asked the local church to help us to determine how we may help the local church grow God's Kingdom.

What you are receiving now is my attempt to simplify and clarify my previous request.  Perhaps the best place to begin is to address the following question.

What is the Conference leadership and Board of Directors hoping to accomplish through the REACH initiative? Perhaps the best way to answer this question is to identify our ultimate goal.

Ultimate Goal: The BC Conference exists to assist the local churches to take Jesus into their church community, and into each church members local community, for the purpose of growing God's Kingdom and making disciples of Jesus.

In order for this to happen the following must take place:

Step One:  The pastor and the local church leadership must ask of themselves the following question -- What are we going to do take Jesus into our church community and into the community where each of us live?

Once this is determined you are ready for step two.

Step Two:  Suggest to the conference what they could do to assist you in what you have determined in Step One.

Step Three:  Collaboration and alignment between the church and the conference to grow God's Kingdom in your church community and in the community of each church member.

Here is the challenge for us conference leaders and board members.

We are not interested in putting new wine  in old wineskins.

So we will need to prayerfully review all the input from the local churches and to then look seriously where we should be allocating all our resources - funding, personnel, etc. If this means a paradigm shift on how we do ministry then so be it.

We need to focus more of our energies and resources on mission-- REACH BC & YUKON with a Christ-centered message of Hope and Wholeness.

So the journey we are ALL on is to determine under the guidance of the Holy Spirit the best way to do this.  Please make this journey one that is bathed in much prayer and the study of God's Word!

In conclusion, what does God desire from us and our local churches?  Isn't that the ultimate question.  "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.  And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

May God bless us all with much wisdom and discernment and we faithfully carry out the sacred responsibility God has given to each one of us.

Living in His Presence,  Wayne Culmore
