A Youthful Army Ready for the Gospel Mission!

Greetings from Abbotsford - home, sweet home! Today I will be of service to our Burnaby Church family. It is always a joy to worship the Lord and fellowship with our church members. We are a family!

Last Sunday, I made my way to Camp Hope after being in the Okanagan area over the weekend. The BC Conference hosted the SDACC REACH Advisory and we had 22 of our pastors attending and participating in a very practical training with the REACH leaders and representatives from all our Conferences in Canada. On Sabbath, those leaders preached and led a REACH training in 10 of our BC Conference churches. What a blessing! We have embraced REACH and encourage and support our pastors, churches, teachers, and schools to have the vision and passion for conducting ministries to our members/students and communities at large based on the five core values of REACH.

Also, at the same time, Camp Hope was hosting our 2018 BC Conference Camporee with over 300 Pathfinders from all our Pathfinders clubs. What an army of young people! I was thrilled to see some of those who were teenagers a few years ago and now are the leaders. God is wonderful. While considering that, I remembered an encouraging message from EGW connected with the way we should envision and prepare our youth to be engaged in the mission given by Jesus Christ: “With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Savior might be carried to the whole world! (Education, 271). Yes, they are creative, have the energy, passion, and are committed to the Cause. That is confirmed by the message of John 2:14.

We, as a church, will get a big blessing by not only encouraging and supporting them to stay in the church, but to be leaders who are ready to take the mantle to carry the mission forward! Many times, I hear some folks say that our children and youth are the church of tomorrow… No, they are the church of today! Above all, we should pray for our young people.

Please check the stewardship video link below to enjoy and praise God for the beautiful testimony of Melanie, a young person with a mission!
