Christ Conquered Death for Us!

Greetings from Kelowna! I arrived here yesterday to participate in the Memorial Service for Br. Don Quiring (afternoon), who was a faithful servant of God, the First Elder of the Orchard City Church and served in different committees of our Conference. Then, I attended the Let’s Move Kelowna (LMK) evangelism meeting with Pastor Chris Holland in the evening. Today, I will support the first Sabbath morning meeting with the visitors of theLMK at the Okaganan Christian School gym. Please pray for the Quiring family as well as for theLMK meetings - hundreds of people are attending the wonderful Bible presentations!
This morning, I thought of the brevity of the human life. Br. Quiring had a cardiac arrest, which led to his death, while distributing flyers and inviting people to attend theLMK just before the beginning of the series. Also, I had lunch with the Quiring family just a few weeks ago… It is still fresh in my mind how happy, friendly, talkative, and hospitable he was as we enjoyed a delicious meal in his home, surrounded by some of his relatives. We need to enjoy more the precious moments with our family and friends! Life is short and full of surprises. However, we are comforted by God’s promises that death is not the end for God’s faithful children. We have a wonderful hope - the certainty of Jesus’ second coming. He will put an end to all misery and suffering that sin has brought to God’s children and creation(Rev 21:4-5) and invite us to take possession of eternal life. What day that will be!
Last evening, among many gems that Pastor Holland highlighted from the Bible, he reminded us that Jesus has redeemed us from sin and given us a free salvation. Yes, salvation is free for us, but Jesus has paid for it with His own life!(I Cor. 6:20; I Peter 1:19) Sometimes, we rejoice in the free salvation that we received from Christ, but not emphasizing enough that it cost the life of the Son of God.
The Bible confirms that we are valued by Him and soon, memorial services will be no more: “’O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”I Cor. 15:55-57 (ESV) Oh come, Lord Jesus!
Please, let’s pray for:
